Today was applesauce day. I was able to stay in the girls' classroom the entire time and really get a better feel for the classroom. There were two other moms, one who had made the applesauce before and knew what she was doing, so I helped the kids more with different papers and such. The applesauce was very yummy, kinda tasted like apple pie. And I just love being in the school environment. Heidi and Anna are just so quiet (they obviously aren't the only quiet ones), but I am a little concerned with how much they are overlooked, there is a such a variance in the skill levels of the different kids; the teacher really has to cater to the opposite ends of the spectrum, and the kids in the middle get lost (you have the kids that are constantly answering questions and always done with the work first, versus the kid who doesn't know how to use scissors or write his name, and then there are the kids with behavior issues). Heidi and Anna are learning a lot, but don't seem to be interacting with the teacher or other students as much as I would like them to.
We had a few follow up appointments this week; the surgeon basically agreed with some of my ideas as to the dark drainage. The button is a little loose (but in correctly) and the movement from normal one year old activities can cause a little trauma. It could also be from damage to the esophagus if there is reflux going on (our prescription company is taking their time filling her medicine). Emily's hemoglobin is steady, but still a little lower than it should be, which may just be from our experimenting with no supplementing. We see the GI in two weeks so he may provide more insights. Her cold is just hanging on, but her ears are clear so that is good. Ok so off to a "restful" weekend.
