Next Step

Ok, first off Luke has had a much better time going into and staying in the water the last two days. All three of them are really enjoying swim lessons, and the weather has been great for them! Secondly, the superintendent told Justin that he will call when work comes up, after Justin called him for a third time. Sadly, this is much how it went last time we had a good lead on a job, then we never heard from the guy again. Justin is looking forward to starting his welding class tonight though. And finally the news from the GI: he really doesn't know what is going on. All the tests are coming back negative or normal (except for the liver enzymes). He is thinking that the liver is the window to a larger issue, something that is affecting the whole system, which the increased vomiting may also be a sign or symptom of. He still thinks that there is something is not working metabolically (if that is even a word). Something about mitochondria, and things (though we don't know what, maybe carbohydrates ?) not being processed correctly. So he is going to do a liver biopsy, hopefully as early as August 10th. He will do it himself, down in the city, then it takes 5-7 days to learn results, more if they if they have to send a sample away. Emily will go under, for the 5th time in her short life, and they will use a needle to extract some liver tissue the size of the tip of a pen. She will stay the day and barring any complication be home within 6 hours or so. This GI has seen Emily since she was 4 months old and is aggravated that they (he is conferring with his colleagues) can't get to the bottom of this. So nothing changes with diet until after the biopsy, Emily had lost a little weight, but gained it back. I am nervous that they still won't find what is wrong when they do the biopsy, I don't know what the step is after that. I also don't know what the treatment is for cells that don't work correctly (if that is the case). I keep praying that God will provide clarity to all involved in this process.
