Our saga continues

Ok, so no one said that life was going to be simple, but several people said that this g-button would be much easier (and for the first week it was and eventually should be). When I changed the dressing last night I was again concerned. Throughout the day today food has been leaking from the site and the size of the hole is indeed increasing (I think the outer skin actually ripped when the g-button went flying out of her tummy at the hospital and because of the constant moisture is just not healing on it 's own). So the surgeon was not reachable all day and finally got a hold of us just before we were going to leave for the ER again. We will see him tomorrow at his other office (he won't be back at our hospital until Wednesday, so we could go to the ER if we wanted and have an IV put in and then sit and wait). The secretary said that he will check the site and if it is totally trashed (her words) that he will have to take it out, let the site heal (close) and start all over again in a few weeks. Obviously this is not all supposed to happen and we are slightly frusterated (it is no one's fault). Please pray that Emily's body will heal and we won't have to start over again.

I found a few good quotes in a magazine worth sharing:

--Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
--God doesn't give us what we can handle; God helps us handle what we are given (I think God does give us more than we can handle so that we rely on Him, and know that in the end there is no way we could have made it through without Him by our side, supporting our every step.
--Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, latte in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Whoo hoo, what a ride!" (I think this is how God wants us to live, to enjoy this life)
--There is always, always, always something to be thankful for.

And my favorite:
--Who are all these children and why are they calling me "Mom"

These are not Scripture, clearly, but made me smile and think a little.
