Well we have fallen into quite a routine here, and things are going pretty smoothly. Everyone is enjoying school so far. Luke is practicing his reading and improving every day. He finally has a loose tooth (Heidi and Anna lost their first one when they were 5 1/2). Anna is also doing a ton of reading, taking after her mama a bit, finishing book after book. Heidi is liking lunch the most :) . They had their first girl scouts meeting this week, and are pretty hyped up to earn patches, and hang out with their friends of course. Anna has been growing her hair for over a year, and finally decided to get it cut yesterday (about 4 inches off). Heidi told me that, "the boys dig Anna's hair", which just cracked me up. Overall, the homework has not been too bad yet, the trickiest part is keeping track of everyone's spelling lists and reading lists. And Emily's speech has improved quite a bit (it is really a repeat of what she did last year), and she is having fun as usual at her preschool. On Friday, I said that I was excited it was Friday, and Emily said, "Because you get to spend it with me?" She is really enjoying all her one-on-one time with me, and can get very upset when the older kids come home. We have spent plenty of time at the dentist as the older kids had 13 cavities between them. Emily has an appointment in the city with a lipids specialist on Wednesday, then we should be done downtown for a few months. And it is time to start working on Halloween costumes and switching out seasonal clothes. Today I bribed the kids to see who could sleep in the latest, and Luke won by sleeping in until 9:30 (I would say it was a success). So we will try that again on Monday when they have no school. Justin continues to be quite busy inspecting and I started the fall Bible study at church. I'll appreciate routine any day!
I wanted to include one more passage from One Thousand Gifts as it just struck me, again with our housing situation. I did finally finish the book, and have now moved on to The Help.
"All fear is but the notion that God's love ends. Did you think that I end, that My bread warehouses are limited, that I will not be enough? But I am infinite, child. What can end in Me? Can life end in Me? Can happiness? Or peace? Or anything you need? Doesn't your Father always give you what you need? I am the Bread of Life and My bread for you will never end. Fear thinks God is finite and fear believes that there is not going to be enough and hasn't counting gifts exposed the lie at the heart of all fear? In Me, blessings never end because My love for you never ends. If My goodnesses toward you end, I will cease to exist, child. As long as there is a God in heaven, there is grace on earth and I am the spilling God of the uncontainable, forever-overflowing-love-grace."
