Emily is 3!

Oh boy, these pictures are all out of order (and for those who have tried to take a picture of Emily, you know how hard it is to get her to look at the camera, so these are some goofy ones). It was a big weekend for Emily, she turned 3 on Saturday. We went to a train museum where Thomas was making an appearance. We didn't actually take a ride on him (way too expensive), but we were able to see plenty of him and look thru all the other old trains. On Sunday, we had a blue themed birthday party. For those who don't know, blue is Emily's absolute favorite color (she will only eat blue cereal, blue M&M's, blue lollipops, etc., this also explains why she likes Thomas and her favorite princess is Cinderella) We had blue cake, blue rice krispie treats, blue chex mix, and yummy blueberry pie. Emily had the most fun popping the bubble wrap and throwing the wrapping paper at daddy. If you are a regular reader of our blog you know that every birthday I comment, "I can't believe how old (insert name) is already!" For Emily however, I feel like saying, "I can't believe she is only 3". I feel like she should be 10, and realistically she been to more doctors appointments and had more test work done that many of us have had in our lifetime. She is a wonderful little girl who loves with everything she has (she has lots of "best buddies"). She has so much personality bottled up in her tiny frame, and she just oozes with enthusiasm. We can only pray that this next year, and the years to come will get easier for her, and that she will stay the same cheery, wild child that she is.

That all being said, we are on our last week before school starts, which is both a "yay" and a "boo". The kids are ready, they are bored and irritated with each other, but we always dread getting back into the routine of rushing around. We have a quiet week, Justin is doing some side work at the neighbors, and is taking a test for one job application. On Friday we head to the city so that Emily can get an ultrasound of her kidney (the one in March was not enough for the kidney specialist, who we have an appointment with in November). Emily will also see the dentist, which should be oodles of fun (they will probably have to put her under to really clean her teeth). I am waiting for the supplies to do a 24 hour urine and she has another round of bloodwork to do (I am just waiting for the orders to be compiled in the right place to get it done all at once).
