The future
Justin has been off for a little over three weeks, not a long time in the larger picture. Yesterday he said to me that he has a gut feeling that he is done with the elevator business. And after thinking about it I agreed. He has never planned to retire doing elevators, but if work was steady there would not really be a reason to leave, quite the opposite in fact. The money and insurance benefits are phenomenal. We are starting to think that the repeated injuries and now time off seem to be the out, maybe the closed door is really an open door to leave the elevator business and pursue something else. The next question is what (and where) does God want us to do/go. We have talked about moving south, to Kentucky, for years. Justin's dad is hoping to retire this year and they also planned on moving south. If it were only Justin and I we would have moved years ago, but children, specifically Emily, complicate things tremendously. Our normal insurance and Emily's OT both run thru the end of June, which is also about the time Bill hopes to retire (I am not sure this is just a coincidence). So you may see a "for sale" sign in our yard soon, we still have some things to work on around here. Then again maybe Justin will be back to work within a week, who knows, thankfully God does.
